Review by Legendary Sports Cars

‘Vanquish’ – to conquer, annihilate or defeat thoroughly - Oxford English Dictionary definition.

The fact that this rare handbuilt car was delivered in the summer of 2007 makes it very special in that it was one of the very last cars that rolled off the production line before the closure of the Newport Pagnell Factory where Aston Martins have been handbuilt since 1955; most notably James Bond’s legendary DB5.

It is thought to be the only Vanquish S in existence with this combination of paintwork and hide, as they were not on the standard options list.

Regarded by enthusiasts as a “proper” Aston Martin – it harks back to the formidable 600 bhp V600 V8 Vantage from 1994, with its muscular rear haunches and imposing hand beaten bodywork. It is a much more striking car than the DB9 or V8 Vantage in terms of styling, and features a Magneti Marelli F1 Paddle Shift Gearbox which is a better system than that used in the original Vanquish.

The V12 roar this car emits through its large twin sports exhausts beyond 3,500 revs simply stirs emotions like no other motor car. The Vanquish S feels bespoke, tailored, and every facet of this car is about as far away from mass production as it gets. The hand made leather interior smells glorious every time you step into it, and the feel of the steering wheel has been honed for absolute driving perfection. With only 1,086 Vanquish S’s made worldwide, it is a very rare sight on UK roads. The general public’s reaction to this car is generally very warm and positive, as those that are patriotic love to see a truly British motoring Legend, particularly in the form of this ultimate Aston Martin.
